Flavors Food Tours was created in 2009 to connect travelers and locals alike to authentic, hidden culinary and cultural treasures. We are professionally certified by Food Tour Pros and are board members of the Global Food Tourism Association. Trust you are with the best.
Our Story
We’re passionate about connecting people with local food makers, creating bonds through breaking bread and making the fun nooks and crannies of San Juan your neighborhood, too. Come with us where we take pride in eating locally.
We have been featured on CNN, the BBC, USA Today, and many other news outlets. Flavors brand food tours, which are women-led, are excited to have you join us in San Juan or St Thomas USVI so you can experience what the buzz is all about.
Eat Well, Be Inspired® is our motto, which we think everyone who loves to travel, explore and eat well can share and identify with.
Leslie
Founder/ PresidentLeslie exchanged grits for mofongo when she moved in 2008 from Atlanta, GA to Puerto Rico. A graduate of University of Georgia, Leslie began her career as a journalist and has written/edited for Lonely Planet, CNN, Atlanta Business Chronicle, Que Pasa Magazine, etc.
In 2009 she founded the first food tour in the Caribbean: Flavors of San Juan Food and Culture Tours, highlighting Puerto Rico’s unique cuisine, culture and history. Flavors has since expanded into St. Thomas USVI (2016), Savannah, GA (2024) Sint Maarten (sold in 2023) and Atlanta GA (sold in 2021).
Fun fact: When she’s not butchering the Spanish language and having fun being a “Sorta Rican” she spends time with her hubby, 2 kids and rescue dog, Max
Raul
Operations DirectorRaul is a Puerto Rican native from Dorado whose passion for unique culinary experiences is only rivaled by his attention to detail and talent for overseeing the operations/logistics department of Flavors Food Tours in multiple locations.
With an M.A. in Academic Psychology in the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Raul is attuned to the customer's needs and providing bespoke service, but also to leading and fostering a tour guide team whose goal is excellence at all times.
A fun fact about Raul is while visiting Perú he ate "cuy," which basically amounts to him having eaten guinea pig. Also, he finds it ironic that he lives on a tropical island surrounded by water but hasn't technically learned to swim yet. If we start water food tours we are sure he will add swimming to his resume in short order.
Yaribell
Finance DirectorPrior to joining the Flavors management team, Yaribell worked for a decade as the Compliance and Operations Officer at San Juan Asset Management. Before joining SJAM she worked as the CFO for a public corporation of the government of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
Yaribell earned her B.A. in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from The University of Puerto Rico. She is fluent in English, Spanish and salsa dancing.
A big fan of mofongo, homemade rice and beans and crème brulee, she’s found her perfect home here at Flavors.
Fun fact: when she’s not salsa dancing or crunching numbers she’s taking care of her TWINS!
